Jeff
Dr. Jeffrey Francis (born Hezekiah _ Goldfarb, April 11, 1963, Hackensack, New Jersey) is a singer/songwriter most notable for his creation and contributions to Southern Funk Rock. The tenth of seventeen children, he is eldest son to Ezekial Goldfarb (creator of Mega Bloks), and Nadia Bronson, both of whom moved from West Virginia three months before his birth. Being the child of swinger parents and disliked by his nine older sisters, he had three nannies, all of whom loathed him due to his incessant crying and penchant for putting anything remotely sharp up his nose. This is a habit that has continued into his adult life, and he has had reconstructive surgery on his nose four times. Brought up in poverty (due to Mega Bloks being a vastly inferior and shameless rip-off of Legos and the wages of his three nannies) he is able to survive in the wilderness for an indefinite amount of time, subsisting on nothing but twigs and bramble berry.
Jeff claims that his entry into the world of Southern Funk Rock began with his attempted 1976 wilderness survival vacation in the Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. Disliking the barrenness of the pine twigs and with no bramble berry to rely on (due to the area's sandy, acidic, nutrient-poor soil) he ventured to eat one of the carnivorous plants that inhabit the area. The chemicals contained within the plant had the hallucinogenic effects of 800 mg of LSD (approx. 4000 times the estimated lethal dosage) but he, due to a very rare recessive trait stemming from the fact that his parents were cousins, not only survived the plants effects, but wrote an entire two disc album, complete with bonus tracks, in a musical style that was a blend of the electric guitar and vocal focus of southern rock, and the de-emphasized melody, harmony, and strong rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums of funk.
After he re-entered civilization in 1981, he immediately set forth to have his album, entitled "I Hope It's Funky Down South" recorded and published. However, he was met with sharp criticism, partly due to the title of his album, but mostly due to his apparent ignorance of this fact. After scouring most of south and central New Jersey, he recorded and published the album himself, borrowing various instruments and recording equipment from friends. The album was completely recorded by 1986. He only managed to find one radio station willing to play his music, a small radio station located at Trenton State College (Now The College of New Jersey). The entire album aired on WTSR 91.3 FM on June 23, 1986. It was an instant hit with the local student body as well as worldwide. Track 5, entitled "800 mg of Funk" rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, UK Singles Chart, and was in the top ten on every other chart on the planet. "I Hope It's Funky Down South" went triple platinum in 3 hours, 4 minutes and 28 seconds since the album started airing.
Jeff, now a multi-millionaire, donated twenty six buildings to Harvard University in 1989, receiving an MD under the title Dr. Nurse Doctor. However, due to his "lack of biological knowledge" hee is not permitted to actually practice medicine. He now resides in Ewing, New Jersey, where he is a member of the Mixed Signals, despite being almost thirty years older then the other undergraduate members. He can be seen around campus wearing his signature orange hat (the same that appeared on his second album, "Funk Ya'll") and enjoys talking to students about his life and career.
